So I’ve being creating my single shadow palette for about 4 years now and even though it’s not quite finished I thought I would show you guys my palette so far. It’s a mix of MAC (originally the plan was to just have a MAC singles palette), Makeup Geek, Urban Decay and one other single from a random brand.
I used to have a MAC empty palette but decided to switch to this Makeup Forever pro palette last year as my collection grew. I think it holds around 32 shadows (which I think it a good amount for me personally). I also purchased a mini palette from Makeup Forever that holds 9 singles which I like to travel with. I think these palettes might have been discontinued now, but if you can find them anywhere I’d really recommend picking them up. They are super sturdy, the magnet is strong and it comes with a foam overlay for when you travel to keep your shadows safe.
Now to run-down the shades I have in my palette…
Top Row –
MAC Blanc Type, Makeup Geek Peach Smoothie, Makeup Geek Creme Brûlée, MAC Wedge, Makeup Geek Desert Sands, Makeup Geek Chickadee, Makeup Geek Cocoa Bear, MAC Embark
Middle Row –
MAC Phloof, MAC Naked Lunch, Makeup Geek Rapunzel, MAC Soba, MAC All That Glitters, MAC Patina, MAC Haux, Urban Decay Crave (Depotted from the Naked Basics into a single)
Bottom Row –
Urban Decay Riff, Makeup Geek Pocket Change, MAC Amber Lights, Makeup Geek Grandstand, Makeup Geek Flamethrower, Urban Decay Fireball, Bleach London Ma4
I’ve kinda reached a point where I don’t know what singles to get next. I am kinda uninspired by it (hence the lack of visible use). It needs a bit of extra something to make me want to use it. I think I definitely missing some mid-tone browns/neutral tones. Maybe some deeper or warmer mattes, pops of colour or some cools tones? If you guys have any must have single shadows please let me know. I’ve got space for 9 more singles so there is still a bit of room to play (unless I purchased another palette in the future – which I can see happening!). Once I have completed my palette I will give a full breakdown of my palette, fave shades and why I have selected the particular shades – I didn’t want to do that first at the risk of repeating myself. I’m looking forward to completing my palette and properly organising it in a way that I want, I feel like I can’t really do that just yet since it is unfinished.
Let me know of some other brands you like for singles, I’m really interested to try ColourPop and Nabla.
