Today’s post is extra exciting for two reasons, one is that its a haul post, which means lots of new makeup bits for me to try out, and the second is that I have a camera!! Dom was super generous and got me my first DSLR to improve my blog photos and photography skills as a graduation/early wedding anniversary gift. I am so excited to experiment with the camera, bear with me whilst I get to grips with it! I am used to using a phone for all my photos so it might take me a while to get used to all the settings and ensure the photos look the best they can. This is my first post using my new camera and I am so excited! Anyway, onto the haul!
Even though I have had a few splurges here and there throughout my degree, I have never gone crazy with makeup purchases since I know this has been a time where I had to be stricter with my budget and aware of what I was purchasing. I had some vouchers from my birthday to spend/some money saved for a rainy day when I felt like doing a bit of a beauty blow-out and as the end of my degree drew nearer, I knew I wanted to wait until I was done to treat myself. This post is some of the aftermath of that makeup splurge, I haven’t quite finished yet (there is a still a few more things I have my eye on but I want to do a bit more research before I commit to those, I will probably feature those on the blog in due course), but I thought I would share with you guys what I have purchased lately!
Stila Glitter and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow set – This is the item(s) I am most excited about! I have wanted to try these out for ages but have never been able to take the plunge and commit to a shade. Enter this mini set, which includes 3 of their best-selling shades; Rose Gold Retro, Kitten Karma and Smouldering Satin. I think these shades cover all the bases and will pair well with a variety of makeup looks. I am gonna review these ASAP because I have been so excited to try these out.
Bareminerals Invisible Bronze Powder Bronzer in Fair/Light – I have been on the hunt for a glowy bronzer for my skin tone for a long time but have never been able to find the right shade for me or a formula that hasn’t been too glittery. After swatching this in store I thought the tone looked promising so I decided to give it a go. I think this will be a go-to during the warmer months when I want to look more glowy and bronzed.
Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette – I wasn’t planning on picking this up when I saw that Too Faced rereleased some of their products, but I had wanted this palette in the older packaging because I don’t really own any neutral toned palettes (I am definitely a warm tones kinda girl), so I decided to go for it. I used some of my Debenhams vouchers for this because I thought it would be best to buy something I would be less inclined to spend my own money on. I know I will use all the shades and the shades seem different enough from other shadows in my collection for me to justify owing it. It seems like a great option for everyday without adding too many new shadows to my collection.
Becca and Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quartz and Backlight Priming Filter mini – I have wanted a highlighter from Becca for YEARS but have never felt like I could justify the price. But, it was brought to my attention in a Facebook group I’m a part of that QVC had a set containing a full-size Vanilla Quartz and a mini size of their Backlight Priming Filter for £22. That’s ten pounds less than the highlighter would have been on its own! It all worked out so well because Vanilla Quartz is one of the shades that works well for fair/light skin tones, I was so excited! I have always wanted to try the primer as well, so getting that as well was such a bonus.
Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Lip Glosses in Fuel and Midnight Cowgirl – I am such a lipgloss lover and I was so hyped when UD launched these new glosses and I knew I had to pick them up. I got these with 20% (so glad Dom has another year of being a student so I can have access to a student discount!) which made the purchase all the more amazing. I went for these shades because they are both nudes (Midnight Cowgirl has a gold shimmer though) so I knew I would get a lot of wear out of them. I will give updates on the formula and how I like them compared to other lip gloss faves in the near future.
So there was my very anticipated makeup haul. I can’t wait to test these products out properly for you guys and let you know my thoughts. I also am excited to research my other potential purchases as well, since graduation is just around the corner! Keep an eye out for reviews or updates about these products in the near future, I have a lot to keep me busy for a while.
