I can’t say I switch up my skin care routine all that often, mostly because I can’t afford to invest in my skin as much as I want to right now and I like to stick to what I know works. Recently I have made a few tweaks here and there to make sure my skin is getting the care it needs. I wanted to share a few hero products I have incorporated into my routine that have really made the difference recently.

First up is the Mario Badescu Rose Spray. I have been OBSESSED with this recently! I decided to switch up my toner step and thought that since I had heard so much about this one that I’d give it a go. Not only does this smell amazing (I love anything that is rose scented) but it is sooooo hydrating too. When ever I use this my skin is instantly perked up and refreshed. It gives a bit of a glow as well, which is perfect for right now since the cold has left my skin feeling and looking a bit drab. I use it morning and night, as well as throughout the day when my skin needs a bit of refreshing. If you love the scent of rose as much as me or you have dry skin, you have to give this a try.

For when my skin is breaking out or congested, I have been loving La Roche-Posay’s Effaclar Duo. I tried this years ago in a sample size and liked it but didn’t really think about repurchasing. It wasn’t until my skin was going through a bit of an angry phase and I saw Zoella mention it in one of her videos at the start of the year that I thought to pick it up again. It took a week or two of daily use of this product to see results and have my blemishes completely clear up, but since then I have continued to use it and I haven’t broken out like I was before using it. The Effaclar Duo has worked wonders on my blemishes, redness and pores, I can’t quite get over it. I love how light-weight it is, it doesn’t feel like it’s clogging up my pores or anything. It’s not quite hydrating enough for me to use on its own, but if you have oily skin I think you’d love how light it is.

Finally, for an extra dose of hydration after using the Effaclar Duo, I have been reaching for the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. I have used this in the past but took a break from it when I was trying out other moisturisers. When the weather got really cold and harsh I knew my regular moisturiser wasn’t cutting it and came across this whilst I was in M&S with my Grandma. From first use I was reminded of how effective it was at soothing intensely dry skin. It is quite heavy-duty, but I think that is why it works so well on my very dry skin. The dry patches went away really quickly and I was left with smooth skin very soon after rotating it into my routine. The amazing thing about this is that it can be used anywhere, so once it becomes too hot wear a heavy moisturiser on my face, I can still use this all over to soothe the dryness on my body. It isn’t scented either, which makes it a great option for sensitive skin too. This is a travel size, which I prefer to the full size because it’s a tube rather than a pot so its more hygienic. You get quite a lot of product in the smaller size which as well, so it doesn’t seem like I’m spending way more for the convenience.IMG_6828

So these are the products I have been loving having in my skin care routine to keep my skin hydrated and clear of any blemishes. I don’t think I have ever posted an in detail skin care routine, and I would love to do that in the future if that is interesting to you guys. Let me know!

Lizzy 🙂
